amber_v: How daaaaaaaaare you (suspicious)

Amber frowned as the patient slumped back into passivity; he was flipping from one extreme to the other faster than a windshield wiper. A combination of respiratory distress and mood swings generally indicated pregnancy, but somehow, she doubted that was the cause. Some form of CFS, perhaps? Or pfiesteria poisoning? She'd watch out for other signs, see if they matched those possibilities. Though, if the amnesia was one of the symptoms, than her guesses were gross misdiagnoses.

This was such an inappropriate conversation to have in front of a patient. The guy, however, had relapsed into silence, his eyes blank. He didn't seem to mind bearing witness to the rant. And if Eric was willing to air out his personal opinions in front of the patients, maybe that was how the House staff rolled. If that's how it was, Amber could learn from example.

The coast was relatively clear, with the nearest person was several feet away and walking in the opposite direction. So Amber let herself lean towards Eric, still speaking softly: "Even if what you're saying is true, why should I believe you? You haven't given me much reason to." However, she was inclined to trust his words. Would he mention sabotage, if he were trying to fool her? Something about his tone, too, straightforward, made him seem all the more sincere... Part of Amber really wanted to believe Eric wasn't lying. She longed to find out that her first impressions of him hadn't been wrong and that he was a man of integrity.

His last statement, however, struck her bad side. "I am not sabotaging myself," she hissed. "Do you think I'd still be here, if I were screwing up? He started with over forty candidates, and I'm still here. I know what I'm doing."
